The Screamin’ Devilles are definitely one unique band in this day and age. Their sound grabs every bit of the “rock” attitude seen in the 1980s and brings it back into the mainstream. This band definitely sounds like they have a lot of fun with their music, as there’s a little bit of everything in their music.

Some songs pay tribute to 80’s rockabilly bands like the Stray Cats through hybrid rock/swing melodies accompanied by a saxophone; other songs have the traditional “big rock” feel (think Bon Jovi, Def Leppard). It is quick and upbeat, as was typical of the era that their music borrows from.

The only problem is that instead of modernizing the sound, the music is outmoded and will likely not appeal to audiences who are too young to remember the big rock sound of the 80s, or those whose tastes have changed over the years. Nevertheless, The Screamin’ Devilles certainly have a lot of energy and this record is a fine effort.
