One Thousand Mirrors Record Company

Radically intense, complex rock/electronic music.

Even though Invention is barely over a year old, their music is pretty complex for a rock band: you rarely hear a rock band using a time signature of three or six.

The vocals over the distorted guitar are oddly beautiful for heavy rock, and are sometimes fashioned in a hemiola (two against three or three against four). To explain it better, the vocals would be traveling in a drag triplet while the beat stays a constant four. The instrumentals have a driving electronic feel under the guitar which slightly reminds me of Nine Inch Nails or The Prodigy.

Along with the complex music, Invention presents complex lyrics. There is an occasional mix of Latin within the lyrics and song titles. This is not to confuse you, but to help you feel the passion behind the words: saying to think for yourself, be honest and truthful, and most importantly, be your own person. It is political in a “fight back and don’t take anyone’s crap” way.

Parable of the Surveyors is a radically intense heavy rock/electronic album, and certainly a decent listen.
