Bands I Would Put on a Record Label
If I could have my way, all of these bands would be on one super-label. It would be quite possibly the trendiest, most happening, most awesome hipster thing to know about, and the bands would be internationally renowned. In the spirit of promoting the band instead of the song, this month I’m going to put their purevolume sites down and commend you to listen to all of their songs- not just one. Have fun!
Band: The Futurists
Bottom Line: Like Radiohead, but with sharper precision, a dance twist, and faster mood-turns.
Band: Great Glass Elevator
Genre: Art rock/indie rock
Album: All In the Golden Afternoon EP
Bottom Line: Whistling is just one of the crazy elements of this highly innovative, highly talented artsy rock band.
Band: The Love Song
Genre: Electronic-tinged indie rock.
Bottom Line: Combative, confrontational, and seriously rocking indie with electronica programmed in.
Genre: Female-fronted indie-rock.
Bottom Line: If the Yeah Yeah Yeahs weren’t freaking out all the time, they’d sound somewhat like mellowish indie-rock band.
Band: For The Mathematics
Album: The New Science
Bottom Line: People who compare For the Mathematics to At The Drive In are just jealous. This band is artsy, spazzy, and rocking- all you want in post-hardcore.
Band: Promise Divine
Bottom Line: Not exactly the most innovative, but the vocals are dead-on and the music rocks.
